The Fowler House has had many famous visitors. One of the earliest was Henry Ward Beecher. Beecher stayed with the Fowler’s for several weeks during a visit to Lafayette in the 1870’s. He was at the time a very famous and nationally known orator and abolitionist. You likely are familiar with his sister, Harriet Beecher Stowe, the author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
